For over 25 years I have lived between worlds. In the periphery. Outside of my own culture for so long that I can see it both objectively and subjectively.
But it works both ways. For 25 years I have also been living in cultures other than my own. Immersed in them, shaped by them, yet always viewing them from a perspective built from many worlds. That is what gives you the ability to see from both the inside and the outside at once.
It is like being immersed in water and staying dry.
Existing between worlds gives you a unique perspective. And for an artist, that perspective is everything.
My name is Genevieve Staats. I work under the name CreatEVE Design.
The work spans commissioned illustration, fine art collections, photography, and authored and illustrated books. It has been presented to royal families, diplomats, ambassadors and astronauts. It has appeared in international galleries, on hotel walls, and inside homes across more than 20 countries.
The through line in all of it is the same. Finding what is already there and making it impossible to ignore.
That instinct shows up differently depending on the project. In the cultural collections, it means researching the history and architecture of a place deeply enough to weave its soul into a contemporary work, so the references are felt before they are recognised. In photography, it means slowing down. Curating your environment. Distilling the ordinary into moments worthy of an international gallery wall. In writing and illustrating the children's books, it means choosing words that resonate rather than the first ones that arrive, and painting light the way I have learned to see it, as something that transforms the ordinary. The kind of magic so great it moves beyond the pages.
Forty years of commissioned illustration have given me something that experience alone can provide.
The curiosity arrives naturally. The work is in knowing what to do with it.

One thing I have learned from decades of working with hotels, brands and private collectors is that the work itself is only part of what a client is hiring. They are also hiring a process. A point of contact who respects their time, keeps things moving, and never leaves them wondering what happens next.
Every project I take on runs through a structured workflow. From the initial brief through to final delivery, clients have their own portal where contracts, invoices, design briefs, revision stages and approvals all live in one place. They know exactly where the project is at, what is required of them and what is coming next. No chasing. No ambiguity. No surprises.
The creative part is the part I love. The organised part is the part that makes it possible to do again and again.
If you are looking for an artist for a commission, a collection, a book, or a collaboration, the best place to start is a conversation. I work with hotels, brands, publishers and private collectors. If something here has sparked an idea, get in touch.
If you are here because something in the work caught your eye, I am glad. That is exactly what it is designed to do.
