Oasis Heads to Greece: The 9th Chania International Photo Festival

Five photographs were submitted. One was selected.

That is how these things work. You put the work forward, my photographs; Sequence, Oasis, Halo, Axis, Ascension were submitted for jury selection and the they decide which one belongs in the room. This time, the room is in Chania.

Oasis has been selected for the 9th Chania International Photo Festival, running 9 to 13 July 2026 in Chania, Greece, organised by Blank Wall Gallery.

Chania is one of Crete's most beautiful cities, and Blank Wall Gallery is one of the most active independent photography organisations in Greece, running international calls and exhibitions that draw work from photographers across the world. To be selected for their festival is a genuine honour.

Oasis is part of the STRIPE series. Apartment towers rising above the desert, intersecting with sky, looking for all the world like an oasis appearing above the sand. It was first exhibited at the PWP Small Works show at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York earlier this year, and was featured in Amateur Photographer Magazine UK online. Now it goes to Greece.

A photograph made on a phone camera in a desert community called KAUST that went to New York. Greece. UK. The work goes where it goes.

If you would like to see more of the STRIPE series or discuss a print commission, get in touch.
